Recently I traveled to New Orleans to video some Edwards campaign events and on to New Hampshire to record some there. I was particularly interested in the New Hampshire events since that is one of the Primary states. So, I attended a Town Meeting in New Market in the middle of the day, in Portsmouth in early evening and one at the University of New Hampshire in Durham at night.
At the various events, I was extremely impressed with how interested those attending the event were, how well informed they were and how seriously they take their selection. That is basically all you can ask of voters ... pay attention, learn and care. On a night when many college students across the country would be back at the dorm cracking the books, researching in the library or maybe simply crashing, these students were alert to the national political scene and turned out in very strong numbers. It was a standing room only event as were all three of those I attended.
I know that many opportunities are available to those who live in New Hampshire, but I also know there are those who for one reason or another are unable to go to an event. This is especially true of those with mobility problems, the very elderly or those who must work more than one job. So, with that in mind, I decided to make them available for others to see. I also think it gives voters in states that are not primary states an opportunity to be a part of an entire Edwards speech so they can get the 'real feel' of what his campaign is all about. It is hard with the 15 second sound bites that we all see on TV to really judge a candidate. But, being able to 'virtually attend' a town meeting, makes it easier. I honestly believe that once they meet the 'real John Edwards' most people are persuaded that he stands for the American dream and is willing to honestly work to make it a reality. Here are the videos.
